Sheboygan’s Planning & Development Director Resigns Abruptly After 14 Months
November 13, 2024 — The City of Sheboygan’s Director of Planning and Development, Diane McGinnis-Casey, has resigned from her position, effective immediately, after just over a year in the role. McGinnis-Casey submitted her resignation to the city’s human resources department on October 31.
The following day, City Administrator Casey Bradley informed Mayor Ryan Sorenson, Common Council members, and city staff of McGinnis-Casey’s departure. Bradley assured that the city will move quickly to fill the vacancy, working with Human Resources to update the job description and post the position soon.
In the interim, Bradley and his assistant, Marie Foss, are overseeing the department’s daily operations, with other city departments collaborating to manage the responsibilities left vacant by McGinnis-Casey’s departure. “We are committed to moving forward efficiently and are hopeful we will be able to post the open position soon,” Bradley said, expressing gratitude for the community’s patience during this transition.
McGinnis-Casey began her role as Planning and Development Director on August 28, 2023, following the resignation of Chad Pelishek, who served in the position for 13 years. Before joining Sheboygan, McGinnis-Casey held leadership roles in community development in La Crosse and Vernon County.
This recent resignation adds to a period of transition for Sheboygan’s city administration. As they work to maintain momentum in planning and development projects, city officials have assured residents and partners of their commitment to continuity and stability through the transition period.
